Retail

We have longstanding relationships with the vast majority of key retail buyers across the main influential retail chains, offering a unique route to the UK market of potentially 45,000 retail points.

All of the retail chains operate on a sale or return supply of product and there is a cost of entry for the majority of them, either by way of a rate card for the group or a selected number of stores or on a cost per store basis. As an example, a major UK launch looking to penetrate a good selection of quality outlets across multiples, supermarkets and independents, we would target circa 20,000 retail points.

Please contact us if you would like a detailed illustration and costing model for your launch product.

Supermarkets

The major UK supermarket groups can deliver a significant share of sales for a major retail launch. There is a cost to entry, generally priced on a cost per store basis, so the retail budget requirement will depend on the number and type of stores and the number of supermarket groups to be targeted. They are selective and require a longer lead time for selling-in new products, especially for seasonal lines targeted at peak times such as Christmas, Easter, Back to school or Halloween.

High Street Multiples and Convenience

Collectively these groups account for a significant market share of sales for our product sector.  They employ strict buying guidelines, manage their category space very efficiently and have experienced buyers. There are rate card costs of entry for each group and their available space for products is generally limited to a select number of opportunities at any given time. It is therefore critical to give sufficient lead time when selling-in a new launch product to these groups.

Independents

There is no cost of entry for the independent retail sector, however the individual stores can choose not to stock a product or to return it early if sales in their particular location do not warrant continued stocking. There are promotional clubs available to the independent retailers offering paid for promotions for products and the NFRN (National Federation of Retail Newsagents) operate one of the largest groups that we work closely in partnership with.
